On the Perspective of Blue Hydrogen Production at the Refinery

Our colleagues participated in the "SPE Europe Energy Conference & Exhibition," dedicated to promoting innovation, research, and technical achievements in the transformation of the energy sector.

The conference, held in late June in Turin, brought together experts from various disciplines to exchange the latest knowledge and experiences related to the energy transition in Europe.

Colleague Slavko Nešić presented the paper "Decarbonization Challenges in Oil Refining: A Perspective on Blue Hydrogen Production at Pančevo Oil Refinery," co-authored by Sergej Fominih, Aleksandra Vertljugina, Aleksej Sizih, and Uroš Božović.

The competition for selecting papers for presentation at the conference was extremely high.

According to the organizers, 353 abstracts were submitted, and only 110 papers were accepted, among them the work of our colleagues from NTC and the "Energy" Division.

- "The topic is very significant, as our company is also undergoing an energy transition that includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and using renewable energy sources. The expected outcome of the project is to have a significant positive impact on the environment by reducing the carbon footprint of the refinery while monetizing low-carbon fuels such as blue hydrogen," Slavko emphasizes.

He notes that participation in events such as major international conferences and presenting results allows for networking with other experts in these fields, exchanging knowledge and experiences, and most importantly, establishing contacts for potential future collaborations.

In addition to numerous companies, representatives from 28 universities participated in the conference.

The conference aimed to provide a common platform across various disciplines, integrating knowledge and expertise to exchange technological solutions that will lead to more efficient and sustainable energy practices.
