On the digitization of the energy sector at the AUTOMA conference

After a successful participation at last year's conference in Milan, our colleagues once again made a notable appearance at the 6th AUTOMA conference held in Vienna.

This congress, traditionally dedicated to the automation and digitization of the oil and gas sector at all levels (Upstream, Midstream, Downstream), this year also have gathered eminent representatives of large energy companies from over the world and gave them the opportunity to present current achievements in this field in their companies, get acquainted and exchange experiences with colleagues and gain a general picture of challenges, requirements and opportunities, as well as modern trends and tendencies in the field of digitization of the energy sector. This year, the focus of the presentation was on the role of digitization in ensuring sustainable business, increasing efficiency and optimizing production processes, as well as developing new strategies, all with the aim of achieving a more flexible, efficient and greener business and greater openness to mutual cooperation.

Thematically conceived in several panel discussions, round tables and sessions, the event, in addition to leading companies in the oil and gas sector (OMV, Total, Shell, Petronas, Schneider, Ericsson), also brought together numerous representatives of EPC contractors, operators, consulting companies, regulatory state authorities, manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, software, etc., and the focus this year has been on the following topics: energy transition, zero emissions, digital twins, artificial intelligence, digital ecosystems, smart pipelines, digital devices for operational efficiency, start-ups and the like.

Our colleague, Vladimir Mihajlović, Data Science specialist in the Digital Projects Sector, has presented the work "Advanced Analytics in the Submersible Equipment Operation" within the round table "Artificial Intelligence in the Oil and Gas Sector", on which he has worked together with his Manager Mikhail Naugolnov, Manager of the Digital Projects Sector.

- Participation in the AUTOMA congress has been useful, both for me individually and for the company and the rest of the NIS team that has participated. We have had the opportunity to see how some of the largest companies in the oil and gas industry have approached the digitization process, what challenges they have encountered and how they have dealt with them. In addition, we have established contacts with a large number of participants and exhibitors and we hope to cooperate with some of them in the future. Also, our panel presentation on the application of artificial intelligence in the oil industry has presented NIS as a company that follows trends and applies them in solving and improving everyday business tasks.
